Holotype: Afghanistan: Jalalabad valley, 3rd. Danish Exp. to C. Asia 20.2.1948, Edelberg 20 (W).

Distribution:

Iran, Turkmanistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, seems to be confined to Northern Balochistan (Quetta, Ziarat) in Pakistan.

Map Location:

D-4 Dist.: Quetta, Spin karez, near Quetta, 1800-1900 m, 11.5.1965, K. H.Rechinger 29270 (K).

The following specimens are reported from Pakistan by Soest in Rech. f. (op. cit.). The author could not examine these specimens.

Quetta Dist.: In jugo Ziarat, 2200 m, Rechinger 29291 (W); Spin Karez, near Quetta, 1800-1900 m, Rechinger 27338 (W).

Small, c. 10 cm tall, sparsely hairy perennial herb. Leaves glabrous, 7 – 15  x 1 –2 cm, pinnatilobed to pinnatipartite with 4-7 dentate, runcinate lobes on each side; petiole pinkish to brownish.Scapes 3-8, brown, smaller than to as long as leaves, hairy above. Capitula 2.5 x 1.5 cm. Involucre c. 1.5 x 1 – 1.2 cm; outer phyllaries lanceolate-ovate, reflexed, somewhat marginate, pinkish or purplish-brown, callose; 5 – 7  x 1.5 – 2  mm; inner ones linear, corniculate, green. Ligules yellow, peripheral ones with dark stripes outside. Anthers polliniferous. Styles and stigmas yellow. Cypsela brownish, 2.2 – 3  mm long, spinulose above with 0.5 – 1.3  mm long cone; beak 8-11 mm long; pappus white to snowy white, 5-6 mm long.
