Distribution:

Russia, Kazakhastan, Mongolia and  Pakistan. Soest, l. c. and Stewart, l. c.  have adopted a broad concept of the taxon resulting in the assemblage of heterogenous taxa.

Small  plants, 4-10 cm tall, glabrous, perennial herb. Leaves with pink petiole; blades linear, obtuse, entire to denticulate or lobed, 2 – 9  x 0.2 – 1  cm, glabrous. Scapes thin, longer than leaves. Involucre greenish, 0.7 – 1  cm, outer phyllaries lanceolate to ovate, appressed or almost  so, callose to corniculate, 2 – 4  x 1 – 2  mm, sometimes with pinkish tinge; inner ones c. 1 x 0.1 – 0.2 cm, linear, usually corniculate. Capitula 2 – 2.5  cm across; ligules white, pale yellowish near base, peripheral ones with purple stripes outside, hairy in the middle or little above. Anthers polliniferous. Stigma brownish yellow, black when dry. Cypselas 2.5 – 3  mm long, spinulose above with 0.5 – 1.2 mm long gradually formed cone; beak 3 – 6  mm long; pappus brownish to reddish or white, 4 – 5  mm long.
