Comment/Acknowledgements:

Note: The name Taraxacum stenolepium is usually referred to the tetraploid sexual complex that are centered in the Transcaucasus  and E. & C. Anatolia. The plants reported from Pakistan under this name are similar to this group but require further examination.

A small slender, 5 – 25  cm tall, perennial herb. Leaves very variable, entire to toothed to pinnatipartite, 5 – 20  x 0.5 – 2  cm, linear, lanceolate or oblanceolate, glabrous, obtuse, subobtuse to acute, lobes usually entire; petiole long or rarely small, pinkish, widely winged at base. Scapes few, hairy above. Capitula 2 – 2.5  cm across. Involucre 9 – 15  x 9 – 12  mm, dark green; outer phyllaries linear to linear-lanceolate, marginate, with or without cornicle; inner ones linear, with or without cornicle. Ligules yellowish to yellow; peripheral ones with dark stripes outside. Anthers polliniferous, rarely absent. Styles and stigmas drying black, rarely yellow. Cypselas brownish to stramineous, 4 – 5  mm long with few spinules above; cone gradually formed, 0.4 – 1  mm long, conical; beak 4 – 7  mm long; pappus 5 – 6  mm long, white with brownish tinge.
