Prostrate, mat forming perennial herbs with flower bearing parts ± ascending. Stem stout, reddish green, rounded, rooting at the nodes, coarsely strigose to hirsute, sometimes subglabrous or glabrous. Leaves simple, opposite, somewhat succulent or fleshy, petiole winged, 2–4 mm long, or sessile, lamina obovate or lanceolate, 2.5–7.5 cm long, 2–4 cm wide, often 3–lobed, lobes irregularly toothed or serrate, cuneate, acute. Capitula radiate, solitary, on 6–8 cm long peduncles. Phyllaries 2–3 – seriate, outer green, oblaceolate 10–12 mm long, 2–3 mm wide, inner 6–8 mm long, ca 3 mm wide, innermost narrower membranous, whitish, ca 5 mm long, ca 2 mm wide. Receptacle paleate, palea conduplicate, pale yellow, 4–6 mm long, obovate, irregular toothed at apex, ± enfolding the florets. Ray florets female, yellow, showy, 8–12, ligule (8–) 10–12 mm long, 3 – lobed. Disc florets numerous, yellow, tubular, corollas 6-8 mm long. Cypselas blackish, tuberculate, surface uneven, ray cypselas 3 – angled, ca. 5 mm long, disc cypselas 2 – angled. Pappus crown of short fimbriate, fused scales on a stout rostrum.
