This species is characterized by its tomentellous to strigillose pubescence, medium-sized to quit robust obovate leaves, stipules 9-15 mm long, subsessile to shortly pedicellate flowers, calyx limb 1-2 mm long, corollas 3-6 mm long, and capsules 10-23 x 3-4 mm. Alseis labatoides is widespread and rather variable. This name has been applied to a number of plants that may not be conspecific. 

Alseis labatoides is similar in general to Alseis blackiana, and to Alseis lugonis and Alseis longifolia.

Seasonal to humid forest and gallery vegetation at 0-700 m in northern South America, widely in Venezuela (Bolívar, Carabobo, Delta Amacuro, Distrito Federal, Falcón, Guárico, Mirando, Yaracuy) and in Guyana.
