Notes:
This species has a glabrescent habit, well developed stipules (for Coussarea), medium-sized leaves, a pedunculate paniculiform inflorescence with reduced bracts, and medium-sized corollas that are swollen and curved in bud in the upper part. The São Paulo state flora and the Brazil Cataloge regard this as an accepted species but poorly known. It is similar in general aspect to Rudgea jasminoides. Its architecture was studied by Costa & Santos (2020).
