Notes:
This species is characterized by its slender well developed stems, subsessile elliptic to very narrowly elliptic leaves with pinnate venation, inflorescences with several fasciculate scorpioid axes, and slender purple corollas. This species shows notable variation in leaf length and relatively width, from ca. 2 to 7 times as long as wide. Kirkbride (1976) noted that this species was long confused with Declieuxia glauca, which he treated as a synonym of Declieuxia fruticosa.
