Notes:
The name Hoffmannia verticillate has been applied to various different species, so its identity was not entirely clear; also as noted on the web page for that species, the size of the leaves and density of pubescence are variable in this species. In the circumscription adopted here for Hoffmannia verticillata, Hoffmannia parvifolia is not distinct. Its type was collected outside the otherwise documented range of Hoffmannia verticillata, but in a region where little native vegetation remains so the full native range of Hoffmannia verticillata may never be known.
