Notes: This species is characterized by regularly developed stems without spines or regularly formed short-shoots; medium-sized to somewhat small leaves; congested umbelliform inflorescences; 4-merous salverform corollas with a well developed tube ca. 9 mm long, a glabrous throat, and lobes ca. 3 mm long; and densely villous turbinate fruits. The stipules sometimes bear scattered, well developed colleters projecting from the margins.
Distribution: Dry scrub vegetation on limestone at 1870-2190 m, south-central Mexico (Oaxaca, Puebla, Veracruz).
