Notes
:
This species is found from Mexico through Guatemala, and is one of the species of Psychotria found at the northern end of the range of this genus in the Americas, along with Psychotria chamelaensis, Psychotria nervosa, and Psychotria mexiae. Psychotria erthrocarpa is characterized by its generally rather small leaves, its rather thin-textured caducous calyptrate stipules that split along one side and typically become dry and reddened a they fall, and its branched inflorescences. Its stipules are very similar to those of Psychotria nervosa.
