Notes:
This species is characterized by its somewhat small leaves, stipules with well developed aristas, generally terminal, several-flowered, cymose inflorescences with well developed peduncles and pedicels, medium-sized white corollas with acute lobes, and subglobose to oblate somewhat small fruits. The tubular calyx limbs are usually persistent and characteristic on the fruits. Faramea ovalis is similar to Faramea occidentalis, which has more robust leaves and flowers and is found at lower elevations. Faramea ovalis is also similar to Faramea coerulescens of the Andes and Panama, with rounded or shortly apiculate stipules, shorter calyx limbs, and cream to yellow corollas.
