A small to medium-sized, handsome tree with white succulent fruits. This species is very similar to Morinda citrifolia; see Lorence et al. (2012) for their distinctions, which can be subtle.

Distribution: Humid forests at 0-600 m in southern Mexico and Central America to Colombia, native in forests and cultivated locally for fruit.
