Notes: This species is characterized by its monocaulous "trashbucket" habit, with leaves with well developed bases that accumulate detritus along the stem where adventitious roots can acquire nutrients from it; rather well developed obovate leaves that are subessile and cordate at the base; lax pyramidal paniculiform inflorescences with pedicellate flowers, rather small corollas, and medium-sized fruits. It appears to be rather local in distribution. Several other species have a similar habit to Psychotria rosulatifolia , in particular Psychotria insueta.
Distribution: Wet forest at 700-1300 m, eastern Panama and adjacent northwestern Colombia.
