Notas
:
This species is characterized by its relatively long petioles and long rather lax inflorescences. It is similar in general aspect to Hymenodictyon embergeri and Hymenodictyon glabrum; Razafimandimbison & Bremer (2006: p. 345) present a table of differences between Hymenodictyon embergeri and Hymenodictyon occidentale, and another (p. 352) of differences between Hymenodictyon occidentale and Hymenodictyon glabrum. Razafimandimbison & Bremer described the leaf blades of Hymenodictyon occidentale as "obovate", but they are ovate on all specimens seen, including specimens annotated by them.
