This species is characterized by its somewhat slender habit, shortly petiolate leaves without domatia, ovate to rounded stipules with two groups of glandular setae, ftruncate short calyx limbs, slenderly funnelform white corollas, and ellipsoid orange to red fruits. A full illustration of the characters of this species was presented by Bacigalupo (1952: p. 62, fig. 13).
Zappi (2003: 575-578. fig. 10A-H) noted the similarity of Rudgea parquioides to Rudgea minor, presented another description and illustration with a different species circumscription, and recognized three subspecies that were distinguished by pubescence details and size of the corolla and inflorescence. In Zappi's circumscription, Rudgea parquioides is notably variable morphologically.
