Notes : This species is characterized by its well laminar stipules with acute lobes, medium-sized to somewhat robust leaves, pedunculate pyramidal orange to red inflorescences with pedicellate flowers, somewhat well developed calyx limbs, yellow to orange, funnelform, medium-sized corollas that are gibbous and markedly bent at the base and curved along the tube, and obovoid fruits. It is generally similar to Palicourea lyristipula.
Distribution : Wet lowland and premontane forest vegetation, Panama through central Ecuador.
