Notes: This species is characterized by its somewhat robust habit, stipules with truncate sheaths, pyramidal inflorescences with developed pedicels, fleshy blue corollas that are densely pubescent on the outside, and somewhat large rounded fruits. This species is isomorphic, and is found in scattered isolated populations on ridge tops. Palicourea eriantha is similar to Palicourea alpina , also from the Great Antilles, which differs in its orange to yellow flowers. Palicourea eriantha is also similar to Palicourea cuatrecasasii, a more robust plant of the Colombian Andes.
Distribution: Wet premontane, montane, and cloud forest at 700-2200 m in Hispaniola.
