Notes: This species belongs to Hillia subg. Illustres, and is very poorly known. It is documented only from the type specimen. It may have an unusual arrangement of the stamens and perhaps stigmas, with these positioned near the middle of the corolla similarly to that of Hillia macbridei.
Distribution: Wet premontane forests at ca. 1100 m, south-central Venezuela.
