Notes: This species is characterized by its hirtellous pubescence, laminar bilobed stipules, medium-sized leaves, pyramidal yellow inflorescences that are usually deflexed with the peduncle geniculate at the base, yellow tubular corollas, and obovoid fruits. It is similar to Palicourea lasiorrhachis, and with several other species forms a complex of species or forms in Costa Rica and western Panama.
Distribution: Wet premontane forest vegetation at 700-1700 m, southern Costa Rica and adjacent western Panama.
