Notes :

This species is characterized by its pilosulous to reduced pubescence, medium-sized obovate leaves on well developed petioles (for Alseis), stipules ca. 8 mm long, subsessile flowers, calyx lobes ca. 0.8 mm long, and capsules ca. 10 x 2 mm.This species was described from a fruiting specimen. Alseis latifolia is similar to Alseis pickelii. and the characters and separation of these species probably deserve re-evaluation. The distfibution given here for this species is provisional, and based largely on the Brazil Catalogue. 

Distribution :

Humid Atlantic forest at in northeastern Brazil (Alagoas, Maranhão, Sergipe).
