This species has stiff-textured cordiform leaves, short peduncles with a few subsessile flowers, and medium-sized flowers. Its identity is not completely clear; it was found in a region with various rather locally endemic species, but will need further comparison with Guettarda ocoteifolia and perhaps some other species.
