Notes: This species has a rather slender glabrescent habit, medium-sized thin-textured leaves, racemiform pedunculate inflorescences borne with the leaves, pedicellate flowers, rotate cream to yellow corollas 5-7 mm long, and small ellipsoid to subglobose red fruits. The leaves have a somewhat distinctive dried aspect, weakly bullate and somewhat stiff with a pale brown color. Hoffmannia hammelii is similar to Hoffmannia hondurensis, Hoffmannia davidsoniae, and Hoffmannia pacifica, and vegetatively similar to Hoffmannia inamoena.
Distribution: At 0-200 m in the Osa Peninsula of southern Costa Rica.
