Notes:
This species has a rather robust hirtellous to glabrescent habit, generally elliptic petiolate leaves, cymose pedunculate inflorescences borne generally with the leaves, pedicellate flowers, rotate white corollas 10-12 mm long, and somewhat large suglobose fruits. Hoffmannia piratarum is the only other species of this genus known from Cocos Island, and is generally similar but more slender.
