Typha domingensis Pers., Syn. Pl. 2: 532. 1807; T. truxillensis Kunth.

Tallos 2.5–4 m de alto. Hojas 10 o más, lineares, planas, hasta 2.5 m de largo y 1.5 cm de ancho. Inflorescencias con las flores estaminadas y pistiladas separadas; inflorescencias carpeladas café-bronceadas; polen solitario.

Localmente abundante en aguas poco profundas o en áreas inundadas, en las zonas norcentral y pacífica; 0–900 m; fl y fr dic–jun; Haynes 8397, Stevens 20050; Golfo de México hasta Argentina.
