Description

his variety differs from the typical in being smaller in all its parts and more conspicuously canescent-strigose throughout; stems and branches often slightly woody, internodes often reduced to 1 cm or less long; mature leaves less than 1.5 cm long and to 1 cm wide, the venation plainly impressed above and prominent beneath, imparting a decided plicate appearance to the leaves, the petioles obsolete or 1-2 mm long.

Distribution

This variety is found in dry sandy soil from Texas and Mexico, the Bahamas and Greater Antilles, through the Lesser Antilles, to Trinidad, Venezuela, and Panama.
