Plants slender, green or yellowish green, sometimes yellowish brown. Stems prostrate, with rhizoids below, irregularly or regularly pinnately branched; pseudoparaphyllia foliose. Stem leaves ascending, ovate-lanceolate, gradually acuminate into a long apex; margins plane, entire or serrulate at apex; costae single, reaching mid-leaf or above; median leaf cells rhomboidal or elongate-hexagonal, 15–32(–48) μm × 8–10 μm; alar cells numerous, often oblate or shortly rectangular. Autoicous. Inner perichaetial leaves erect, lanceolate, sometimes plicate, long acuminate; costae single, strong. Setae slender, curved when dry; capsules cylindrical, strongly curved when dry; annuli differentiated; cilia 1–2(–3), nodulose, rarely appendiculate. Spores small, minutely papillose.
