Eustichia is monospecific, found in tropical America and Africa. The genus is characterized by the leaves appearing strongly 2-ranked, but with inconspicuous, smaller median leaves, the lateral leaves conduplicate, with pluripapillose laminal cells and a short excurrent costa that is slightly incurved. Diplostichum Mont. (Ann. Sci. Nat., Bot. 3, 4: 116. 1845.) has been employed by some recent authors.
