Notes:
Helicodontium contains about 20 species distributed in the tropics; five species in the Neotropics. The common species, H. capillare, is likely to be far more frequent than the few collections would presently indicate.
 
Helicodontium contiene cerca de 20 especies distribuidas en los trópicos; cinco especies en el Neotrópico. La especie más común, H. capillare, es probablemente mucho más común de los que los pocos ejemplares colectados podrían indicar actualmente.
