Notes:
Leptodontiella can be mistaken for Leptodontium; however, the former differs by the uniseriate propagula, a combination of leaf features (presence of a hyalodermis, leaves 2 mm or less long, and basal cells little differentiated), short seta (to 2 mm) and urn (to 1.2 mm), and a peristome with the teeth each divided to the base in 3-4 segments; see comments also under Streptotrichum which is also similar. This monotypic genus is likely to be found in Ecuador and possibly Bolivia.
