Notes:
Plaubelia is similar to Hyophila, particularly H. involuta, with rostulate, oblong to somewhat spathulate leaves, and cells of the lamina and costa bulging on the ventral side, and dorsally flat; however, Plaubelia differs by the bulging, rounded-quadrate ventral costal cells and presence of a peristome. The single neotropical species was previously placed in Neohyophila. The generic name is apparently in honor of a mycologist Plaubel.
