24. Pseudosymblepharis Broth.    拟合睫藓属  ni he-jie xian shu

Plants medium-sized to rather large, 3–8 cm high, in loose tufts. Stems erect, usually branched at the upper part, densely foliate; central strand present or absent. Leaves contorted-curved to strongly crisped when dry, erect- to curved-spreading when moist, narrowly lanceolate, sheathing at the base, gradually acuminate; margins plane, entire; costa slender to stout, percurrent to excurrent in a short or long awn; in cross section, with 2 stereid bands; upper leaf cells green, quadrate to irregularly hexagonal, moderately thick to thick-walled, with several simple or branched papillae in each cell; basal cells quadrate to rectangular, smooth, hyaline, differentiated basal cells extending up both sides at margins forming a V-shaped region. Dioicous. Setae slender; capsules erect, cylindrical; peristome teeth 16, rather short, lanceolate, straight; annuli differentiated, of 2–4 rows of cells, deciduous; opercula conic-rostrate. Calyptrae cucullate, smooth. Spores spherical, yellowish brown, papillose.

 

Pseudosymblepharis is mostly found in tropical and warm-temperate regions. Zander (1993) accepted 11 species in the genus. Two of them occur in China.
