2. Tayloria alpicola Broth.   高山小壶藓   gao-shan xiao hu xian
Symb. Sin. 4: 49. pl. 1. f. 11. 1929. Type. China: Yunnan, De-qin Co., Handel-Mazzetti 8169 (lectotype H, designated by Iwatsuki & Steere 1975); Sichuan, Mu-li Co., Handel-Mazzetti 7469 (syntype H).
 
Plants rather small, soft, sterile plants ca. 5 mm high, fertile plants ca. 10 mm high, light green or yellowish green, in loose tufts. Stems erect, usually simple, sparsely foliate below, densely foliate above, radiculose at base, rhizoids reddish brown. Leaves smaller, short, oblong below, becoming larger above, oblong-lingulate, ca. 2 mm long, constricted at base, rounded obtuse at apex; margins entire, bluntly crenulate above; costa slender, ending well below leaf apex; upper leaf cells rounded hexagonal; lower cells rectangular, with 1 row of elongate cells at margins. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves not differentiated from stem leaves. Setae ca. 0.5 cm long, slender, yellowish; capsules small, shortly ovoid, with less developed apophyses, less than 1/2 the urn length, stomata present; exothecial cells oblate, with transversely thickening walls; opercula small, bluntly conic; annuli none; peristome teeth the same as the genus. Calyptrae inflated in its lower half, constricted below, smooth. Spores ca. 40 µm in diameter.
