Notes :
Ecology: Amazon to montane; exposed, often wet sites, on soil and rock. Elevation: 365-2000 m (Colombia: 1380-2000 m, Ecuador: 365-450 m, Peru: 700-1000 m, Bolivia: 500-1000 m). Distribution: Pantropical (absent in Africa). Some authors have placed this taxon in the genus Hydrogonium.
 
Ecología. Amazónico a montano abierto; a menudo en hábitats expuestos y húmedos, sobre suelo y rocas. Elevación: 365-2000 m (Colombia: 1380-2000 m, Ecuador: 365-450 m, Perú: 700-1000 m, Bolivia: 500-1000 m). Distribución. Pantropical (ausente en África).
 
Barbula arcuata is characterized by the lax habit, narrowly lanceolate-triangular leaves, generally decurrent leaf bases, plane to more commonly recureved leaf margins (often to near the apex), and smooth laminal cells. Some authors have placed this taxon in the genus Hydrogonium. Barbula subulifolia Sull. is a synonym.
 
Barbula arcuata se caracteriza por tener el hábito laxo, hojas angostamente lanceolado-triangulares, generalmente bases de las hojas decurrentes, márgenes planos a más comúnmente recurvados (a menudo a cerca del ápice) y células de la lámina lisas. Algunos autores han ubicado este taxón en el género Hydrogonium. Barbula subulifolia Sull. es un sinónimo.
