Plants small, less than 10 mm high, in loose tufts. Stems erect, often forming 2 innovated, rosette branches, with reddish rhizoids at base. Leaves smaller below, larger above, twisted when dry, oblong-ligulate, acuminate, ca. 3.8 mm × 1.0 mm; margins recurved in lower 2/3 the leaf length, serrate in the upper margins, borders differentiated, consisting of 2–5 rows narrower cells; costae reddish below, excurrent into awns; upper leaf cells rhombic, ca. 35–50 µm long; median cells rhomboidal ca. 45 µm × 18 µm; basal cells shortly rectangular. Autoicous. Setae elongate, ca. 35 mm long; capsules elongate-ovoid, ca. 4 mm long, mouth small; opercula small.
