Discussion:

Brachymitrion jamesonii has apiculate, oblong-obovate, strongly bordered leaves and crenate leaf margins. The leaves of B. moritzianum differ from those of B. jamesonii in their spathulate shape, spinose-toothed margins and multicellular awns. Brachymitrion cochabambae like B. jamesonii has bordered leaves, but it differs in having spathulate leaves, a weaker leaf border, and shorter costae.

The rhizoidal initials in this species are in the internodal region of the stem while in B. moritzianum and B. cochabambae they are found on the stem at the base of the leaves.
