 Bryoerythrophyllum ferruginascens is characterized by the ovate-triangular to short lanceolate leaves to 1.8 mm, acute apices, entire, recurved (lower half) margins, percurrent costa, 2 stereid bands, ± thick-walled laminal cells, quadrate, papillose upper cells, hyaline or yellowish, weakly papillose, rectangular basal cells. Red or brown, obovoid propagula are often present on rhizoids.
Bryoerythrophyllum ferruginascens se caracteriza por las hojas ovado-triangulares a corto lanceoladas hasta 1.8 mm, ápices agudos, márgenes enteros, recurvados (mitad inferior), costa percurrente, 2 franjas de estereidas, células de la lámina con paredes ± gruesas, células superior cuadradas, papilosas, células basales rectangulares, débilmente papilosas, hialinas o amarillentas. Propágulos obovoides, rojos o pardos, a menudo presentes en los rizoides.
