Notes     (Last Modified On 4/3/2009)
general taxon notes:
Pogonatum urnigerum and P. dentatum are widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere, with Pogonatum urnigerum occurring at higher altitudes, up to 4000 m. The apical cells of lamellae in both species are thick-walled and densely papillose, but they differ in cross section. In Pogonatum urnigerum, the apical cells are oblong-oval; while in Pogonatum dentatum they are plane and rectangular. The stems of Pogonatum urnigerum have multiple branches, which is unique in Pogonatum.
