Plants up to 7 cm high, green to yellowish-green, radiculose nearly to the apex. Leaves 4-10 x 0.8-1.5 mm, falcate-secund, sometimes nearly straight, little changed or somewhat flexuose when dry, concave below, keeled above, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, gradually acuminate, unistratose except for the bistratose alar region; margins strongly serrate above; costa subpercurrent to short-excurrent, with (2-)4 serrated dorsal ridges above, in section showing 1 row of guide cells and 2 stereid bands, the dorsal and ventral epidermal cells not differentiated; cells elongate and pitted throughout. Pseudautoicous. Seta 1 or rarely 2 per perichaetium, 2-3.5 cm long, yellowish- or reddish-brown; capsules 3-4 mm long, curved, inclined to horizontal, smooth, striate or wrinkled when dry; annulus none; operculum 3-3.5 mm long. Spores 16-24 µm.
