Zygodon perichaetialis is characterized by the stems to 2 cm long, keeled, narrowly ligulate-lanceolate leaves, squarrose-recurved when wet, sharply dentate-serrate at leaf apex, dioicous sexual state, setae to 2 cm long, ribbed, cylindrical capsule; peristome features unknown. The type was collected by Herzog from Incacorral.
 
Zygodon perichaetialis se caracteriza por los tallos hasta 2 cm de largo, hojas angostamente ligulado-lanceoladas, aquilladas, escuarroso-recurvadas en húmedo, nítidamente dentado-serradas en el ápice de la hoja, estado sexual dioico, setas hasta 2 cm de largo, cápsulas cilíndricas, acostilladas; características del peristoma desconocidas. El tipo fue colectado por Herzog en Incacorral.
