Notes:

Ecology: Semi-dry to humid montane and puna, on soil. Elevation: ca. 3000 to 4800 m (Argentina ca. 3000 m, Bolivia: 4400-4800 m). Distribution: At high latitudes of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, in South America from Bolivia and Uruguay to Chile and Argentina.
 
Ecología: En sitios abiertos, montano y puna; sobre suelo. Elevación: cerca de 3000 a 4800 m (Argentina ca. 3000 m, Bolivia: 4400-4800 m). Distribución: De acuerdo a Ochi esta es una especie Antipodal; en Sudamérica desde Bolivia y Uruguay hasta Chile y Argentina.
 
Bryum imbricatum is similar to B. algovicum, differing mainly in sporophytic features according to Ochi (1980), including a synoicous sexual state, hemispheric and apiculate operculum, exostome free from the endostome, cross walls absent on inner surface of the exostome, and the narrowly perforate endstomal segments. This species was treated by Ochi (1980: 144) as Bryum amblyodon Müll. Hal.; the type of B. amblyodon was collected by Lorentz in 1872 from Tafí (Province of Tucumán), Argentina.
 
Bryum imbricatum es similar a B. algovicum, diferenciándose principalmente en las características del esporofito de acuerdo a Ochi (1980), incluyendo el estado sexual sinoico, opérculo apiculado y hemisférico, exostoma libre desde el endostoma, sin paredes transversales en la superficie interna del exostoma y segmentos del endostoma angostamente perforados. Esta especie fue tratada por Ochi (1980: 144) como Bryum amblyodon Müll. Hal.; el tipo de B. amblyodon fue colectado por Lorentz en 1872 en Tafí (provincia de Tucumán), Argentina.
