21. Bryum kashmirense Broth.   喀什真藓   ha shi zhen xian
Acta Soc. Sci. Fenn. 24(2): 24. 1899. Anomobryum kashmirense (Broth.) Broth., Nat. Pflanzenfam. I(3): 563. 1903. Type: Kashmir.
 

Plants very small, ca. 4 mm high, yellowish green above, reddish brown below, in dense tufts. Stems often branched by innovations at base, densely foliate at top of stems. Leaves imbricate, oblong-ovate, 0.8–1.5 mm long, cucullate above, acuminate; margins plane or narrowly recurved, entire; costae shortly excurrent, somewhat reddish below, pale yellowish brown above; leaf cells rhomboidal, 38–75 µm × 7–15 µm, moderately thick-walled, becoming narrower close to margins, borders not differentiated. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves not clearly differentiated. Setae straight, ca. 8–15 mm long, reddish brown; capsules reddish brown, horizontal to pendulous, pyriform or ovoid, 2.0–2.4 mm × 0.8–0.9 mm; neck short; mouth large; opercula conic; peristome perfect; endostome segments perforate; cilia 2. Spores spherical, 9–14 µm in diameter.
