Ecology. High open Yungas montane to humid puna; exposed habitats, on soil, rocks and trunk of trees including Polylepis. Elevation. 3120-5040 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Cochabamba, La Paz. World range: widespread; in South America confined to the Andes.
 
Ecología. Montano alto abierto de Yungas a puna húmeda; en hábitats expuestos, sobre suelo, rocas y tronco de árboles incluyendo Polylepis. Altitud. 3120-5040 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Cochabamba y La Paz. Distribución mundial: distribuida ampliamente; en Sur América confinada a los Andes.
 
Leptodontium flexifolium is typically a small species, often less than 10 mm high, epidermal stem cells small, thick-walled (hyalodermis absent), with oblong to lingulate leaves to 1.5-2 mm long, papillae low and scattered over the cell lumen. Leptodontium spongiosum Herzog, collected by Herzog from the Cerros de Malaga (Department of Cochabamba), is a synonym.
 
Leptodontium flexifolium es típicamente una especie pequeña, a menudo menor a 10 mm de alto, células epidérmicas del tallo pequeñas, con paredes gruesas (sin hialodermis), hojas oblongas a lingüiformes hasta 1.5-2 mm de largo, papilas bajas y esparcido sobre el lumen celular. Leptodontium spongiosum Herzog, colectada por Herzog en los Cerros de Málaga (departamento de Cochabamba), es un sinónimo.
