Habitat & Distribution:
Habitat: on bark of trees and rock surfaces in alpine forests; alt. 3600–3700 m.
Distribution: endemic to China.

This species is characterized by its slender plants with distantly growing branches and by its leaf apices being narrow and plane.

4. Leptopterigynandrum tenellum Broth. 细叉羽藓 xi cha-yu xian
Symb. Sin. 4: 96. 4f. 1. 1929. Type. China: Sichuan (Setschwan), Mu-li Co., Handel-Mazzetti 7365 (holotype H).
 
Plants delicate, yellowish green, in loose mats. Stems prostrate, up to 4–5 cm long, loosely pinnately branched, with abundant brownish rhizoids; branches up to 5 mm long, erect-spreading, densely foliate. Leaves erect spreading, slightly concave, widely ovate or ovate-lanceolate, narrow at apex, mostly secund, up to ca. 0.75 mm long; margins entire, narrowly revolute near base; costa lacking or short and double; leaf cells oblong-ovate, smooth; alar cells small and quadrate, thick-walled. Dioicous. Sporophytes not seen.
