general taxon notes:
This species is similar to L. incurvata. The difference between the two species is that the leaf cells of L. radicosa are longer (more than 15 µm long), while those of L. incurvata are shorter (less than 12 µm long).

Plants soft, yellowish green to brownish green, slightly shiny, in dense tufts. Primary stems creeping, with abundant fasciculate rhizoids, irregularly branched; branches mostly curved in arch-shape, blunt at tips; paraphyllia short, small. Leaves slightly secund, up to 1.5–1.9mm × 0.5–0.7 mm, gradually tapered from subdecurrent, ovate to elliptic base to an apiculate apex, biplicate at base; margins narrowly recurved, entire or dentate above; costa ending at apex, serrate on back surface; leaf cells usually smooth or faintly projecting at upper ends on back surfaces; median cells hexagonal to long-rhomboidal, 15–20 µm × ca. 5 µm; basal cells rather wide, oblong; alar cells quadrate; branch leaves slightly secund, margins serrate. Dioicous. Setae 5–7 mm long, slightly curved; capsules pendent, long-ellipsoidal; peristome double; exostome teeth lanceolate, densely striate below, verrucose above; endostome segments as long as exostome teeth, somewhat perforate. Spores 14–18 µm in diameter, reddish brown, papillose.
