Plants robust, yellowish or brownish green, glossy, in densely or loosely caespitose mats. Stems erect or ascending, to 5–10 cm long, irregularly branched; in cross section cortical cells small, thick-walled, in 2–3 layers; central strand weakly differentiated; pseudoparaphyllia polymorphous, foliose. Stem leaves spreading, ovate or ovate-triangular, 2.0–2.5 mm × 0.8–1.0 mm, gradually narrowed to a long and curved apex; costae short, double; margins entire; median leaf cells 50–70 mm × 3–5 mm, thick-walled, porose; alar cells distinctly differentiated, subquadrate, hyaline or light brown. Autoicous. Inner perichaetial leaves elongate-lanceolate, ca. 2 mm × 0.8 mm, abruptly narrowed into a long acuminate or linear apex, plicate; costae single, reaching 2/3 the leaf length. Setae 20–30 mm long, reddish; capsules brown, horizontal, cylindrical, arching curved; endostome segments carinate; cilia 2–3, as long as the segments. Spores 14–17 mm in diameter, papillose.
