Notes     (Last Modified On 5/4/2009)
general taxon notes:
Eddy (1996) treated this species as a synonym of Bryum clavatum, but we disagree with this treatment. The latter species has leaves distinctly bordered at margins, while Pohlia gedeana does not have a border differentiation. Ochi (1985) retained this species in the genus Bryum. In our opinions, the serrulate leaf margins and narrowly rhomboidal leaf cells warrant that this species is better placed in Pohlia than in Bryum.
