Characteristics of Rhodobryum huillense include plants with 2-3 stored rosettes, obovate-oblong leaves 5-7 mm, and leaf margins bordered by 2-4 rows of thick-walled linear cells. As noted by Allen (2002), Bryum andicola is similar but with slightly smaller leaves (2-6 mm) and single store of comal leaves. Allen (2002) placed this taxon in Bryum which may be a better alternative.
