Plants medium-sized to rather robust, dark green to yellowish green or reddish brown, usually in dense tufts. Stems often multi-branched; infertile branches usually arcuate when dry, ca. 3–4 cm long; fertile branches erect, 2–3 cm high, with many branchlets at apex. Leaves dense, crisped when dry, spreading when moist, oblong-ovate to broadly ovate, 2.5–3.5 mm × 1.0–1.3 mm, broader and slightly decurrent at base, gradually acute at apex; margins not clearly bordered, single-toothed above mid-leaf; costae percurrent, curved above, straight below, dentate at back; leaf cells small, rounded-hexagonal, ca. 12–15 µm wide, thick-walled, smooth. Dioicous. Setae solitary, 2.0–2.5 cm long, reddish brown; capsules oblong-cylindrical, 2.5–3.5 mm × 1.2–1.5 mm, horizontal or pendulous; other features the same as those of the genus.
