3. Schwetschkea gymnostomaThér. 缺齿附干藓 que-chi fu-gan xian
Monde Pl. 9(45): 22. 1907. Type. China: Guizhou (Kouy Tcheou), Tchen-fong, Esquirol s.n. (holotype PC).
 
Plants rather thick, yellowish green or brownish green, slightly glossy, in flat patches. Stems creeping, up to 1.5 cm long, irregularly branched; branches 4–5 mm long, branch apices ascending, obtuse. Leaves dense, imbricate when dry, erecto-patent when moist, ovate-lanceolate, 0.5–0.7 mm × 0.2–0.3 mm; narrowed at base, acute at apex; leaf margins plane, serrulate above; costa single, ending in the middle of leaf, smooth on the back; upper and median leaf cells narrowly rhomboidal, shorter at leaf base; alar cells flat quadrate, in several rows. Autoicous. Female inflorescences growing on lateral branches. Perichaetial leaves similar to stem leaves. Setae 5–6 mm long, brownish, erect or curved; capsules shortly cylindrical, ca. 1.2 mm long, 0.3–0.4 mm in diameter, yellowish brown; opercula flatly conic, with a short, curved beak; annuli undifferentiated, only 2–3 rows of flat quadrate cells along the mouth of capsule; peristome teeth absent.
