Plants delicate, brownish green, not glossy, in flat patches. Stems prostrate, up to 8 mm long, ascending above; irregularly branched; branches 3–4 mm long, erecto-patent or creeping, apex ascending; rhizoids numerous. Leaves imbricate, dense, appressed when dry, erecto-patent when moist, widely ovate or widely ovate-lanceolate, 0.5–0.7 mm × 0.2–0.3 mm, gradually tapering to a slender apex; leaf margins plane, serrulate above; costa single, up to above the middle of leaf, smooth on the back; upper and median leaf cells narrowly rhomboidal or narrowly oblong-elliptic; basal leaf cells shorter; alar cells clearly differentiated, flat-quadrate, in several rows. Autoicous. Perichaetial leaves erect, similar to stem leaves, somewhat broader, lighter in color. Setae 1.2–1.3 cm long, erect, reddish brown; capsules shortly cylindrical, 1.0–1.1 mm × 0.3–0.4 mm; annuli undifferentiated, with only 2–3 rows of smaller cells around the mouth; opercula conic, with a short, oblique beak. Spores not seen.
